8. Depth
The depth that you'll experience just going about your business in The Order: 1886 is astonishing. It's all too easy to get distracted by NPCs. In one chapter, we spent a good five minutes watching a man be kicked to death, while in another, a policeman attempted to help a man suffering from a severe asthma attack. (Don't judge us! Those rebels are pesky and the guy's fate as a goner was sealed before we even laid eyes on him!) They actually feel like substantial people, most of their dialogue runs at a longer time than anticipated, leading to a lot of pretty believable 'slices of life' that occur around you as you make your way through each section of the game. The level of detail in things like handwritten notes, the collectible wax cylinders, framed pictures and the 'alluded-to' pre-story relationships is really something that you can tell ReadyAtDawn have taken a lot of care in crafting, as while you could go from A to B and ignore most of this stuff, they reward the players that want to soak in the atmosphere of the game. Every little detail you pick up on just launches you further down the rabbit hole.
