The Witcher 3: 10 Biggest Secrets & Hidden Locations You Need To Find

8. Swimming With The Whales

Another incredible and rare event that may awaken a fear of the sea in you is an encounter with a huge blue whale off the coast off Skellige. As with the ghost ship, there is no documented surefire way to bump into one of these, so it'll be a case of sailing around (or better still swimming, so you can quickly dive under the surface to follow it) until you encounter one. The animations for the whales are a bit half-baked compared to the rest of The Witcher 3. Sometimes you just see a frozen fin sticking out of the water, which then submerges when you get close to it. Other times you see the whale undulate across the water, but then disappear immediately when you dive under the surface. But, if you get lucky, then you can witness the whole breathtaking process, with the whale emerging, submerging again, then swimming for a bit underwater and emitting a valedictory call before clipping suddenly into nothingness. It seems like CD Projekt RED didn't have time to finalise the creatures in the game, but frankly it's awesome that they chose to include them in the first place, rather than ditch them altogether. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zyAVm0Dmls
