The Witcher Movie: 10 Actors Who Could Play Geralt Of Rivia

6. Gerard Butler

Gruff, tough, and with that heavy brow giving him a slightly world-weary appearance that he could easily exacerbate for the role, Gerard Butler would be a great 'dark horse' choice for Geralt of Rivia. As a bonus, the internet would have a field day with the crappy name puns when reporting from the set; Gerard of Rivia, Geralt Butler - you heard them here first... Butler has always seemed most comfortable in roles where he doesn't have to look too happy, with any signs of joy coming with a kind of gruffness similar to the sarky Geralt's. If there's one problem with Gerard, it's that he's quite loud - fitting for a rousing leader of men like we've seen in 300 and Attila. Can he tone down to be the cynical outsider? If there are some doubts as to whether Gerard can pull off that air of mystery so endemic to Geralt's character, then at least you can't question that when he has long hair and wears nothing but a towel around his waist in Attila, he's a spitting image of Geralt - except for that silly smirk on his face, which he does a lot less in more recent years.
