Titanfall 2 Review - 6 Ups & 5 Downs

A pleasant surprise.

It's without question one of the busiest fall periods for gaming ever, and in-between the two big-hitters that are Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare comes Titanfall 2, the follow-up to Respawn Entertainment's deliriously enjoyable 2014 multiplayer FPS.

It sure isn't perfect, but you know what? TF2 is still one of the year's most pleasant surprises so far, arriving on a fairy muted wave of hype but solving many of the original game's qualms, even if it doesn't quite manage to truly elevate the franchise to that brilliance it's always so close to achieving.

At a time where gamers basically feel more nickel-and-dimed than ever before, here's a title that offers up great value, an immense entertainment factor and actually respects the very people shelling out hard-earned cash to play it.

Here are 6 ups and 4 downs from Titanfall 2...

Downs

5. The Campaign Is Only 4.5 Hours Long

As ludicrously enjoyable as Titanfall 2's campaign is (and more on that in a moment), it is undeniably disappointing that it clocks in at just 4.5 hours in length, including the game's tutorial.

Now, while that time is certainly well spent here and it's a better alternative than a campaign double the length that's full of padding, it leaves the player wanting so much more, and hopefully Respawn will take this feedback on-board when crafting the campaign for Titanfall 3.

If they can sustain that perfect pacing over a 6-8 hour campaign next time, then it will feel less like it was quickly cooked up to combat complaints about the original's poor excuse for a single-player offering.
