Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5: 10 Extreme Sports Sequels We Actually Needed

2. Jet Set Radio

The nearest thing to a more futuristic take on the Pro Skater formula short of PS2 flummox Airblade, Jet Set hit you square in the face with its vibrant and alluring cel-shaded aesthetic, before backing it up with a game engine that was both incredibly addictive and deceptively deep. Birthed from Sega's finest arcade-focussed minds, JSR ditched any sense of realism in favour of letting you indulge in the cartoonish madness of it all. Leaping huge distances was par for the course, as was twisting through a few hundred different spins and grabs as you went. Recently Sega have been talking about how their recent output and direction as a company (like the pukeworthy Sonic Boom) hasn't done right by the fans - which is why a cult success like Jet Set would be the perfect game to reinvigorate both their outlook and relationship to the fans.
