With reports last month that the upcoming AEW Fight Forever video game will only feature 50 members of the extensive All Elite Wrestling roster, Tony Khan has moved to play down such talk of the release's line-up of playable characters already being finalised.

Speaking during an appearance on The Corner podcast (via WrestleZone), the AEW President explained how more names are still being added to the Fight Forever roster, and that additional stars would be made available as DLC after the game's initial release.

"I'm not gonna put an exact date on it [Fight Forever's release], but we've put a lot of time and effort into the development of this game. It's gonna be great. A lot of the great stars of AEW are in it, and a number of people who've come in, even in the past year, will be featured in that game, and a lot of big stars have come in in the past year, and we've added some stars along the way that I think are really important to get in the game for everybody."

Continuing on, Khan discussed how downloadable content will play a part in AEW Fight Forever:

"So we'll have a great roster when we launch, and then we'll still be able to add people through DLC as we go, but making sure we get the best possible roster when we start. We've signed so many wrestlers in the last year, especially in recent months. We may not be able to get every single person in, but people that have signed pretty recently, we're still trying to get some of the biggest names in because we think that's the best chance for the launch of the game, is to have some of the biggest stars in the world of wrestling in the game. And we already had a lot of them, and we're adding more."

Of course, when Tony Khan makes reference to AEW signings across the past year, that includes the likes of new AEW World Champion CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Toni Storm, Adam Cole, reDRagon, Ruby Soho, Athena, Keith Lee, Swerve Strickland, Danhausen, Malakai Black, Buddy Matthews, Brody King, Rush... and the list goes on.

With AEW teaming with Yuke's on Fight Forever, and with the classic WWF No Mercy cited as a major influence, the confirmed roster members as of this writing are Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, Hikaru Shida, Nyla Rose, Kris Statlander, Thunder Rosa, Ruby Soho, Darby Allin, Jungle Boy, Adam Cole, CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole, Sting and Owen Hart.

AEW Fight Forever is currently scheduled to be released on consoles and PC towards the end of the year, although, as mentioned by Tony Khan, a formal release date has yet to be announced for the game.
