Torchlight 2 Beta: Monsters, Loot, And Sleep Deprivation, Oh My
Yet, even with this great assortment of gameplay features, many of the game's quests feel mundane and repetitive. They drag down the fun to be had by relying on a heavy assortment of fetch quests that littered my play time. On the other hand, it's hard to truly punish Torchlight 2 for these quest designs. The loot crawlin' RPG genre seems to rely on these quest axioms in order to move you through the game world, and venture from the start to finish. While the game relies heavily on these quest structures, the game offers a significant challenge once you arrive at one of the many boss encounters. Venturing by your lonesome will surely provide many gamers the opportunity to curse at their screens for brief periods of time. Even with the difficulty, they are not impossible and that's the beauty of any RPG. Uncovering an enemy's weakness, exploiting, and dealing out massive amounts of damage. With new game plus, you can certainly expect to revisit an old boss with brand new strength and vitality. You aren't worried though, that brand new armor set will provide you a great comfort to laugh behind. On top of all these improvements, the most significant change for the title is the inclusion of both online multiplayer and LAN support. Players will be able to level their characters offline, and instantly join a group of friends online for questing. While I was unable to join an online session during my time with the game, it is easy to see how this will greatly extend the life of the title. http://youtu.be/_kW6XIlHOGo Torchlight 2 is an awesome improvement upon the original title, and fans of dungeon crawlers should definitely put this one on their radar. With its $20 price tag, significant improvements, and loot driven chaos, there are plenty of reasons to snatch this one up. Runic is even offering a deal that offers a free copy of Torchlight 2 with the purchase of three, so get your team ready. Be sure to stay tuned for more information, and a full review, when Torchlight 2 finally launches. A solid release date hasn't been announced yet, but Runic is surely gearing up to launch the title very shortly. With many Diablo 3 fans searching for salvation, the wait for Torchlight 2 cannot come any sooner. Here's to you, Torchlight 2, and the massive amout of sleep deprivation that is inevitable. I'll be waiting...oh, I'll be waiting.
