Uncharted 4: 10 Awesome Fan Theories You Need To Know
4. The Mystery Of Olivier Levasseur
While on the subject of missing pirate loot, the mysterious Olivier Levasseur is another one that has spawned several fan theories. Back in the 18th century, with piracy in its golden years, Levasseur was a fearsome pirate who pulled off a whole host of successful robberies. His most famous heist was that of the Nossa Senhora do Cabo, which was rumoured to be worth £10 million in todays money. Interestingly, the pirate and his crew used to launch their raids from a base on the island of Sainte Marie, the same location that features in the trailer with the giant X on it. Theres also a whole host of strange superstition around Levasseur. When he was finally caught, he was sentenced to hang. While stood on the scaffold he threw a necklace containing a cryptogram into the crowd, exclaiming, Find my treasure, the one who may understand it! This was followed by the discovery of a rock in 1923, which was covered in carvings and later the last will of a pirate who claimed to own Levasseurs treasure. It was discovered that the symbols were Masonic, and possibly referred to having to complete 12 tasks, similar to the 12 labours of Hercules. Now, this particular fan theory suggests that Drakes brother has managed to come into possession of a cipher for the code found on the rock, and will use his brothers knowledge to go in search of the loot. The plot would see Drake having to complete 12 labours, similar to those of Hercules, before the pair can finally get their hands on the missing pirate treasure. Naughty Dog has already confirmed that this latest adventure will test Drakes physicality, so there could be something to this theory.
