4. The Interactive Games

Interactivity has been built into Universal parks for a while. With the opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter even allowing guests to casts spells in Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley in Orlando. Super Nintendo World takes this to a whole new level.

The interactive games are arguably the best feature of the new land. As you go around the land you can punch Question Mark Blocks, just like Mario with the bright yellow cubes flashing and making a noise. Though to truly make the most of the land you do need to purchase a Power Up band.

Themed to your favourite characters, the Power Up band allows you to join their team for the day and compete against everyone in the park. As you explore the land there are plenty of places to collect coins and stamps apart from the Question Mark Blocks. Keep an eye out for symbols and touch points around the land where you can bag hidden coins. We even found one in Toadstool Cafe.

All your scores and progress is stored on the Universal Studios Hollywood app. We recommend downloading the app and purchasing the Power Up Band before you enter the land as you'll not want to waste any time getting started once you enter the land.

You can also use your Power Up Band to log your score on Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge. Just make sure to tap the steering wheel once you sit down in the kart and it will log your score on the app. You can also see how you compare, not just with those in your group, but across the park as a whole.

Though collecting coins and knowing your Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge score is good, the real treat is the Key Challenges.

There are four Key Challenges in total for you to enjoy. There's the Goomba Crazy Crank, Piranha Plant Nap Mishap, Koopa Troopa Power Punch and Thwomp Panel Panic. If you manage to get 3 of the four keys you can take on Bowser Jr in an incredibly fun final challenge.

The sticker collecting on the app will also be fun for the children (and grown kids) in your party. Each sticker tells your how you can obtain it for those who like to collect them.

The Power Up Bands are $40 and though expensive, we do think they are a must if you want to make the most out of the land. You require one for each member of your party if they want to track their individual score, so if you want to compete with your friends you'll each need to buy one.

Whoever's Power Up Band choose you automatically join their team. Should you want to switch to a different team you would need to purchase an additional (though most people will be more focused on competing with friends and family over the team score).

The interactive games are definitely what makes this land so unique and allow you to explore the whole land in a way you might not otherwise.
