Mario Kart: Bower's Challenge is not like any other attraction you might have experienced before.

Here you enter into a real life video game where you join Team Mario to take on Team Bowser. Entering Bowser's Castle the queue area takes you past so many recognisable features. There's Bob-ombs being made, we see Bower's plans for winning and even trophies from past games.

After experiencing a colourful guide at how to play the game you are given an adjustable Mario hat that allows you to connect to the ride vehicles augmented reality glasses.

Hop aboard your very own Mario Kart and race into an attraction that is just like the game. As you steer yourself around the track you collect points and take out Team Bowser by throwing shells.

There's a mixture of augmented reality and physical props as you race, the whole attraction is filled with colourful things that even if you didn't play the game the ride would still be fun. But the competitive element of collecting coins is the best part of the attraction.

Guests who’ve played Mario Kart will find the ride easier to get to grips with the attraction than those who are newer to the franchise. Just like with any video game, Mario Kart: Bower's Challenge allows you to get better with each ride.

The attraction has so much re-ride ability as you learn where everything is and how to score more points. Those who neglect to steer will definitely find they score less than those who do.

Universal have created an attraction that is fun for the entire family and does a brilliant job blending the new technology of augmented reality with some of the elements of a traditional dark ride.

In Mario Kart: Bower's Challenge whether Team Mario or Team Bowser wins is kind of irrelevant as no matter what you're going to have the best time racing down the Rainbow Road.
