The immortal God-Emperor has much to be admired by us mortal beings, his power, his psychic strength, and a strong will that can motivate trillions into giving their lives in battle for the sake of the Human race.

But how has he survived for the past 10,000 years? Well after the massive civil war known as the Horus Heresy the Emperor was actually mortally wounded. The Emperor was then confined to Golden Throne which became the only thing keeping him alive, turning a great man into a cybernetic monster.

And in order to keep the man alive and with him the Imperium, tens of thousands of citizens around the Galaxy are chosen to become willing sacrifices for the Emperor, replenishing his life force with theirs. which means that in a single year the Emperor requires at least 3,650,000 lives to continue his hold over the Imperium of Man, and his Golden Throne is slowly failing the God-Emperor.
