Watch Dogs: 10 Reasons It Might Disappoint

5. Aiden Just Ain't Got It

Aiden Watch Dogs The protagonist is a tricky business to get right. I mean look at Arnie. He was all bad in the first Terminator, then went good and ended up being awesome. In gaming, we've seen protagonists that are hits (like a certain wisecracking Mr Drake) and more than a few misses (I'm looking at you, Cool Spot!). Watch Dogs stars Aiden Pearce, a mysterious hackery-type dude who is all big long coats, phones and baseball caps. We honestly don't know much else about the guy. He needs a good story arc to get us involved, needs to well voice acted and generally needs to come across as likeable/badass enough that we like him purely for being a badass. It worries me that Aiden may well end up being boring, surly and/or just a bit annoying. After all, Ubisoft's protagonists are often a bit meh. Sure, Ezio Auditore da Firenze was awesome throughout the Assassin's Creed 2 trilogy, but Connor in 3? My god, he made me want to beat myself to death with the nearest inanimate object, because frankly he was just that dull. Will Aiden suffer the safe fate? Let's hope not. Let's also hope that his phone doesn't have more personality than him.
