Watch Dogs 2 Review: 7 Ups & 6 Downs
2. Hacking Mini-Games Are Repetitive & Frustrating
Of course, the hacking mini-games are back...but sadly Ubisoft haven't really done a whole lot to make them more fun this time around.
It doesn't help that the game does a horrible job of explaining how the player is supposed to hack into cameras, locate keys and unlock networks, because let's face it, how many of us have actually touched the previous game since finishing it over two years ago?
The game assumes you're already pretty up-to-par on hacking, which can result in a number of head-scratching moments where you tirelessly spend time figuring out something the game probably should've explained better.
There are also some bizarre interface and aesthetic choices: one hacking section late in the game leaves the final "lock" tucked just out of sight so you can easily spend 20 or 30 minutes thinking there's something else you're missing.
While the puzzle aspect of the hacking can be fun, the experience gets pretty tiresome in the game's later stages as they become more complex and elaborate.
