Watch Dogs 2 Review: 7 Ups & 6 Downs

3. Cringe-Worthy Characters & Humour

WATCH DOGS 2
Ubisoft

As relieving as it is that this game ditches the funereal tone of the first game, Ubisoft don't always ensure that the humour actually lands.

While the game firmly plants its tongue in its cheek when it comes to depicting the hacking group Dedsec, the character banter is frequently quite cringe-worthy, coming off as what a middle-aged executive probably thinks young hackers actually sound like.

While the balance definitely wins out in favour of jokes and one-liners that actually work, the humour and characters themselves are often quite embarrassing, especially the villain Lenni, who is basically a not-quite-parody of your average 4Chan user. Anyone over the age of 20 will probably find the hackers pretty grating to listen to after a while.
