As the mascot dragon himself, Rathalos is in many ways similar to Rathian, but instead of having a venomous tail, he has venomous claws.
In every game Rathalos has been in, he's had one of the more memorable fights and Monster Hunter: World is no different. He's the final true test before going after Zorah Magdaros, so beating Rathalos sets hunters up nicely for the ridiculous challenges ahead. Yes, even the utterly ridiculous ones!
If you're a newer hunter struggling to beat him, try to get him to crash into the waterfall at the top of the mountain. He'll be flushed away and stunned for a really long time.
