17. Nergigante
Nergigante is a nuisance and the first Elder Dragon you get to kill. It's also one of the harder boss fights in the game thanks to some unique attacks that can annihilate entire teams of hunters.
As the fight processes, its black spines will harden, increasing its defence wherever there are spines. These can be shot off with Dragon Pods, which Nergigante drops after being hit enough times.
What you should watch out for is when Nergigante decides to take to the skies. It'll hurl itself at any hunters nearby, instantly taking out their entire fully upgraded health pool. Yes, even if you gorged on food before fighting him, you're not surviving that dive attack.
