WWE 2K17: 13 Major New Details Triple H Just Revealed
4. Nakamura Is A Collector's Edition Exclusive At Launch
Having established that Nakamura is a big part of the NXT mode in the Collector's Edition, Triple H was unable to qualify whether he would be available exclusively in the edition, or whether he will be on the standard roster.
He was initially unable to confirm:
"I'm trying to find that out. .. One of the things with the video game for us is, as you can imagine, a lot of these things are, planned way in advance, but they play them very close and don't put out a lot of the information for a reason. And they're trying to build as much interest and demand for the game as possible. And they tried to try to keep that as secretive as possible.
But, I can tell you right now that, for sure, for me, if you want to for sure play Shinsuke Nakamura in the game, in the 2K17 game, I can guarantee you a way to do it is to get the NXT edition. That will guarantee it. I'm unsure of whether he is in both."
It does make sense that Nakamura would be limited at least initially, and indeed 2K Games later clarified that "Nakamura is only available at launch with NXT Edition". Notice "at launch" is an important phrase there.
That's no bad thing really. It gives Collector's Edition players a reason to crow, and it wouldn't at all be surprising if 2K decide to add an NXT character pack to the DLC slate, including Nakamura to equal the playing field.
Triple H also hinted at the appeal he saw in including Nakamura:
"It's awesome. I think that's one of the exciting things of the game that you can take, you know, Shinsuke Nakamura, and he can just go through this legendary set of characters from the past, from today, from all the way through. And you have the opportunity to match them up, things that you could never possibly see."
