WWE 2K19: 10 Biggest Fears Hardcore Fans Have

3. Universe Mode Will Be Exactly The Same

In theory, Universe Mode is great. It's a customisable WWE world that naturally evolves rivalries, friendships and tag-team breakups as you progress. Give it a proper go however and the mode boils down to a slog through endless matches with only a few cut scenes sprinkled in here and there.

The whole experience is a hollow one, and it has felt like a beta version of something better since being introduced in SmackDown vs. Raw 2011.

One of the biggest worries hardcore players of the 2K series have is that 2K19's Universe will look exactly the same as the one in 2K18. If so, it's inexcusably lazy to expect players won't notice. There has to be something new 2K can hang their hat on, otherwise they'd be better of scrapping Universe completely.

The absence of a memorable Story Mode is distressing to those who recall the old story format in THQ's games fondly, and it doesn't help that Universe Mode's flimsy attempt at a continual WWE calendar is as much fun as writing matches on a sheet of paper and playing them in exhibition.
