WWE 2K22: 10 Hands On First Impressions You Need To Know
4. Crowds Are A Bit More Realistic
Fans in WWE games have always been overexcited types who cheer or wave their arms around regardless of what’s happening. For example, Bianca Belair could have Alexa Bliss locked in that chin lock for days and the front few rows would be popping like crazy.
2K22 remedies this unrealistic approach.
Now, signs are there that 2K want to contextualise fan reactions more than ever before, and a it’s a major step in the right direction. Those folks in the foreground there? They're reacting to Stephanie McMahon turning round to greet them - they're not just leaping around because that's what their coded/canned animations call for.
Ambient crowd noise, similar to entrance music and pyro, is a little louder too. Cheers and boos feel like they're happening around the ring you're wrestling in rather than simply being laced over the top or pumped in as background buzz.
It won't be perfect, and canned animations will still happen, but this is an improvement.
