5. Focus On The Here And Now
As cool as it is when 2K announces special editions of the WWE games revolving around the likes of Kurt Angle or Hulk Hogan, it's also the same problem WWE's shows have: they're relying too much on the past. The spotlight should be on today's Superstars, especially when getting to play as them should without a doubt be the biggest draw of buying these games.
A smaller roster with only a select handful of Legends would be far more effective, and means the game's developers can focus on the likes of Andrade, Bray Wyatt, Becky Lynch, and Shayna Baszler, instead of devoting time to Andre the Giant and Trish Stratus. Yes, it's fun pitting today's stars against those from yesteryear, but it shouldn't be the main focus and priority.
This would also mean saying goodbye to the much-loved Showcase mode. We really don't need to be constantly looking back at classic storylines; instead, a reboot needs to deliver something entirely new (like the aforementioned free roam option), and that actually leads us nicely into our next point...
