This one isn't so simple as 'Microsoft owns both Bethesda and Obsidian therefore New Vegas 2 confirmed'. Rather, it is simply a case of seeing that New Vegas demonstrated that spin off Fallout titles are more than viable, and now Microsoft can muster any one of the innumerable studios they own to increase output of these products.

This is probably the more likely outcome than an Obsidian-developed New Vegas 2, all things considered. Considering the sheer number of studios Microsoft now calls their own, they can hand-pick anyone can give them a shot at developing a spin off title, reserving main series entries for BGS.

And these spin offs needn't be simply in the mould of New Vegas. Consider Halo Wars: it is likely that Microsoft might view the spin off route as one wherein they can experiment with bringing the Fallout licence to new genres.

Even if they do simply opt for non-BGS developed titles that are still the series-standard RPGs, there is a broad scope, both in terms of which ideas to develop and which studios to give them to.
