Xbox Game Pass: 12 Massively Underrated Games You Must Play
5. Joe Danger
A few years before Hello Games generated waves of internet rage with No Man’s Sky, they were a slick indie company that pumped out this fun (and challenging) little platform racer.
Centred around a daredevil stunt driver- think a cartoony Evel Knievel - who is attempting to make a comeback on the competitive scene. That’s about all the story your given, and about all necessary, as the game throws you into a colourful and energetic world full of wacky racetracks that you must complete at break-neck countdowns.
The player is also encouraged to perform as many nutty stunts as possible if they want to earn a Gold Medal on level completion, an incentive that becomes unbelievably addictive - especially as tracks become more complex and demanding.
And therein lies the joy of Joe Danger; it's dirt simple and easy to jump into, but takes skill to master.
Also, available on the subscription service is Joe Danger 2: The Movie, highly recommended if you enjoyed the first. With Joe taking on work in Hollywood as a stuntman, it ratchets up the crazy set-pieces with an impressive high-point being a Temple Of Doom minecart homage.
