Xbox Scarlett: 9 CONFIRMED Console Details You Need To Know
8. 15 First-Party Studios Are Working On Next-Gen Games
Though few of them actually have anything to show off yet, Microsoft are making strides in improving their first-party lineup. For the bulk of this generation, the company has relied on its tried-and-tested franchises like Gears and Halo, all of which have brought diminishing returns as the years have worn on. Where Sony have delivered new properties like Horizon: Zero Dawn, Days Gone, Spider-Man and Death Stranding, Xbox has been starved for new IP.
All of that should change, however, as after adding the likes of Ninja Theory and Obsidian to their first-party stable last year, Microsoft announced during their conference that they've also purchased Double Fine to make exclusive titles. That takes the developers they own up to a pretty staggering 15, which means they shouldn't be left in the cold when it comes to exclusives for the Scarlett.
The teams they now own should result in a solid blend of old and new properties over the next few years, with the likes of The Coalition and 343 keeping the flagship duo of Gears and Halo alive, while the new purchases can innovate and think up the new IP that will set Scarlett apart from the competition.
