7. Link Is Being Guided By The King Of Red Lions

At the very beginning of Breath Of The Wild the player is greeted by an old man. While this is undoubtedly a nod to the original NES Legend Of Zelda, in which Link is gifted a sword after a quick “It's dangerous to go alone!”, Nintendo is no stranger to later revealing the “true” identity of early characters.

Indeed, keen fans have noticed a striking similarity between the old man and King Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule, or as most remember him, the King Of Red Lions.

This would tie in very well to the notion that Breath Of The Wild takes place after the Wind Waker, and it would make sense that Daphnes would be able to knowingly guide Link, seeing how he was once the King.

It would also explain what he's doing on the Great Plateau, a place of historical significance. Of course, the elephant in the room is the fact that Daphnes supposedly perished at the end of Wind Waker, but in a fantasy series, anything is possible.
