Zelda: Breath Of The Wild - 8 Mind-Blowing Theories About The Story

3. The Old Man Will Become Ganondorf

While I already detailed a theory on this list about the Old Man at the beginning of Breath Of The Wild potentially being the King Of Red Lions, this alternative theory is too interesting to pass up. For a start, there are also physical similarities between Ganondorf and the Old Man: both have a similar skin colour and a similarly big nose.

More convincingly is how this might make sense story-wise. In Skyward Sword, there is no Ganon or Ganondorf: there is only Demise, who we know is the entity responsible for Ganon/dorf's endless return. Which means there's currently a space between the defeat of Demise and the origins of Ganon/dorf. On top of that, we know Ganon and Ganondorf are frequently referred to as two distinct entities, yet regardless part of the same whole.

Consider this: Calamity Ganon in Breath Of The Wild appears to be nothing but a cloud, a relentlessly destructive force with no humanity. What if that's what's leftover of Demise after Skyward Sword? And what if Breath Of The Wild sees that cloud latch on to a human at the end, the Old Man, who is possessed by this force and provides Ganon with an element of humanity?

This would bridge the gap between Demise and Ganondorf very nicely, and explain the physical similarities.
