1. Lou Cyphre's Identity - Angel Heart

Angel Heart opens with private investigator Harry Angel (Mickey Rourke) hired by a mysterious benefactor, Lou Cyphre (Robert De Niro). Cyphre asks Harry to track down his client, Johnny Favourite, who has gone missing.

The more Harry pokes around in Johnny's life, the more people close to him wind up murdered. In the end, Harry learns he is Johnny Favourite and is responsible for every murder he's stumbled upon. Worst still, Cyphre reveals he is the Devil himself, and is preparing to send "Harry" to Hell.

Though this revelation is meant to be hard-hitting, it's hard to find a single person who didn't see it coming. With his demonic mannerisms and claw-like fingernails, Cyphre barely acts human. In an early scene, he tells Harry how the egg symbolises the human soul in many cultures. He then devours the egg, unsubtly implying he's going to consume Harry's soul.

Also, he goes by the name "Lou Cyphre," which is glaring reference to his true title of "Lucifer." If Cyphre was trying to keep his identity a secret, why didn't he select a more subtle pseudonym, like John Smith? Instead, he chose a fake name as conspicuous as Mr. Say Tan.
