10 Horror Victims That Did Everything Right But Died Anyway

5. Randy Meeks - Scream 2

In Scream, horror purist, Randy Meeks, is the first person to recognise Ghostface uses slasher stereotypes to pick off his victims. Randy repeatedly warns his friends not to have sex or say, "I'll be right back," since these acts are a death sentence in the genre.  Randy has a point since he's among the few who survives the bloodbath, which he believes is down to the fact he's a virgin.

In Scream 2, another Ghostface terrorises Woodsboro, leading Randy to deduce the killer is now following the tropes of slasher sequels. When Ghostface calls him while he's at the park, the masked maniac makes it clear Randy is next on the list.

Randy strategically stands in the open, so nobody can sneak up on him (in theory). He also checks the phones of every passer-by to ensure they're not the ones making the call. But these precautions were for nought, since Ghostface leaps from a van and hacks Randy's face open.

Despite his snarky know-it-all demeanour, Randy's expertise should've allowed him to outsmart the killer time and time again. For this reason, nobody expected Randy to be murdered, especially in a public place in broad daylight.
