10 Recent Horror Movies That Didn't Deserve To Bomb
1. Night of the Zoopocalypse
And we'll end this list on something totally different: an animated horror film from the mind of Hellraiser creator Clive Barker of all people.
Night of the Zoopocalypse definitely had the potential to be a bit of a crossover hit, operating as a gateway horror film for young viewers while also appealing to the sort of adults who paid to see Paranorman back in 2012, but distributor Viva Pictures barely marketed this one at all - enough that it only ended up grossing $5.6 million worldwide despite scoring enthusiastically positive reviews from critics and releasing with little direct family-friendly competition.
Much as you can argue that a zombie film for kids is inherently a tough sell, the easy consensus here is that the filmmaker threaded the tonal needle and delivered something worthwhile for audiences of all ages. But viewers can't really be expected to go see something if they're never made aware of its existence, as was clearly the case here.
