10 Scrapped Horror Movie Monsters That Would Have Been Terrifying

You could argue that the Xenomorph is one of the most perfect horror movie monsters in the history of horror movie monsters. Aside from the fact that it is literally perfect, hence why the Weyland-Yutani Company was so interested in it, it had a terrifying and iconic design that has stood the test of time and earned its place at the top of the pile.

However, that's not to say that it couldn't have been scarier. Way back in the early 2010s, District 9's Neill Blomkamp began unofficially working on a fifth Alien movie that would have acted as a direct sequel to Aliens.

After releasing some of the concept art, which most notably featured the return of Dwayne Hicks (Michael Biehn), it became clear that this ultimately unmade film would have featured some gnarly Xenomorphs. Unfortunately, the project never saw the light of day, and audiences were instead given the widely disappointing Prometheus.

Many of the images appear to show hybrid or experimental versions of the Xenomorph, which is something touched on heavily in Alien: Resurrection, though no matter how horrifying Blomkamp's aliens may have turned out, it would be hard to think of anything worse than Romulus' Offspring (Robert Bobroczkyi). Maybe that's for the best.
