10 Twisted Horror Movies That Go Way Too Far
1. Terrifier 3
You may have thought that the window of opportunity for anyone to join the ranks of iconic slasher villains such as Leatherface, Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, and Freddy Krueger had long since shut. However, a certain jester has been throwing his blood-stained hat into the ring since his debut in 2008.
Since then, Art the Clown (portrayed by David Howard Thornton in the Terrifier trilogy) has carried the franchise on his back. It has quickly become famous for its insane levels of graphic horror and gore, but without the mystifying pull of the psychotic killer clown, it wouldn't be nearly as memorable.
This may be why the trilogy has upped the shock value in each of its entries. Terrifier was bad enough, and then what Art did to Allie (Casey Hartnett) in the sequel, namely skinning her alive and dismembering her, before covering her in salt and bleach while she was still breathing, was too much for many.
How does that get topped? How about an opening so brutal that it caused walkouts within the first ten minutes? This is what happened when Art opened Terrifier 3 by massacring a family in their home while dressed as Santa. And if you thought this was bad, chances are the upcoming fourth instalment will be even worse.
