20 Awesome Horror Movies With No Sequels

For anyone still unsure if Brandon Cronenberg was just another Hollywood nepo-baby, he categorically proved himself a stellar filmmaker in his own right with 2020's Possessor - an entrancingly effed-up sci-fi horror ride that more than lived up to the legacy of his father David Cronenberg.

The central concept, of an assassin who takes control of other people's bodies to perform their hits, is so potential-rife that it almost seems like a shame to "waste" it on a single movie.

Possessor could easily be an anthology series of movies centered around different assassins, or perhaps even a TV series, but absolutely nothing suggests we're ever going to get a continuation of the movie in any way.

And to be fair, Possessor seemingly says everything that Cronenberg wanted it to - it gets in, riffs on identity and bodily autonomy in some deeply horrifying ways, and then gets the hell out.

Plus, considering that the original film didn't stir up much business at the box office and is far more of a cult curio, there likely isn't the commercial incentive there for Possessor 2.
