20 Best Christmas Horror Movies You NEED To Watch
17. Inside
One of the best and most important entries in the New French Extremity movement of the 2000s, Inside is an utterly savage horror film centered around a heavily pregnant woman (Alysson Paradis) who, while mourning the recent death of her husband, is preyed upon by a strange woman (Béatrice Dalle) on Christmas Eve.
Now, it goes without saying that Inside categorically isn't a film that any pregnant person should watch around Christmas or really any other time of year, but for everyone else, it's a brilliantly squirm-inducing masterclass in suspense with a drum-tight 82-minute runtime.
Home invasion pictures may be a dime a dozen, but here's one with quite the unique hook, the protagonist's particular vulnerability only ratcheting up the tension as the intruder's true intentions become ever more clear (it's not hard to guess).
Filmmakers Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo hold nothing back on the brutality front, and without saying too much, you'll definitely never look at scissors the same way again. Just be sure you don't accidentally watch the woefully inferior 2016 English-language remake instead.
