20 Best Christmas Horror Movies You NEED To Watch
14. Christmas Bloody Christmas
Nobody expected iconoclastic genre filmmaker Joe Begos (Bliss, VFW) to cook up a Christmas film totally outta nowhere, but unsurprisingly, Christmas Bloody Christmas is an absolutely singular, off-the-wall take on the typical seasonal slasher.
Rather than revolve around a shadowy human killer doing the rounds at Christmas, Begos' film is about a malfunctioning Santa robot (Abraham Benrubi) that turns murderous after reverting to its original programming from the US Defense Department.
Somewhat fittingly, Begos' movie began life as a pitch for a reboot of Silent Night, Deadly Night before being spun off into its own gonzo Terminator-at-Christmas romp. Anyone familiar with Begos' prior work won't be surprised by the colourful language, neon lighting, and oodles of gore on offer, and while his confrontational filmmaking style won't be for all tastes, it does result in a Christmas picture quite like no other.
If you're craving an efficient, brutal slasher with a killer Final Girl in Riley Dandy's Tori, look no further.
