Until Dawn's time loop conceit allowed the film to have its central characters die repeatedly in creatively gory ways without taking them off the chessboard permanently.

By far, the best death scene in the entire movie occurs when the four main trapped characters all drink tap water, unaware that it's actually contaminated. Moments later, the group starts violently exploding from the inside, one by one, their grisly entrails showering the rest of the group until, of course, they're all dead and the time loop starts all over again.

This is just a whole lot of fun; the canny fusion of practical and digital effects with impactful sound design ensures the sequence is as spectacularly gross as it is totally hilarious. Director David F. Sandberg also delivers a brilliant callback to it right at the end of the film, when the evil Dr. Hill (Peter Stormare) is tricked into downing some of the tainted water, causing his own explosively bloody demise.
