Paul W.S. Anderson's undead sequel starts with superpowered badass, Alice, waking up in Racoon City, which is now swarming with zombies. With the city set to be nuked within a matter of hours, Alice races to escape while also avoiding a bio-engineered brute called Nemesis.

At first, the towering zombie comes across as a remorseless antagonist, devoid of any humanity, but when Alice is ordered to fight Nemesis to the death, she learns this hulking monstrosity is her dear friend, Matt Addison, who featured in the last movie. It turns out the same corporation responsible for the zombie outbreak, Umbrella, transformed Matt into an unstoppable weapon they can control (or so they believed).

Even though Alice has a chance to put Nemesis out of his misery, she tries to reason with him, hoping to get through to Matt's dormant personality. When Matt's mind awakens, he turns on Umbrella's forces and gives his life to protect his old friend.

Matt Addison may have looked like the stuff of nightmares, but his final act proved he was anything but a monster.
