20 Horror Movie Sequels Releasing In 2026

13 years have passed since the release of Scary Movie 5, and the easy consensus is that the smash hit parody franchise simply ran its course, per both creative stagnation and the general decline of the big-screen parody movie.

So, it was quite the surprise when Miramax announced in 2024 that Scary Movie 6 was in development, and while one might be tempted to scoff at the cynicism of it all, many changed their tune when the Wayans brothers were confirmed to be writing the sequel. Furthermore, Anna Faris and Regina Hall will be reprising their lead roles of Cindy and Brenda, and since then, we've learned that most notable actors from the first two films will also be returning.

As such, it seems highly likely that Scary Movie 6 will be sending up legacy sequels like Halloween 2018, Scream 5, and I Know What You Did Last Summer, while Marlon Wayans also suggested it will probably parody the likes of Get Out, Nope, Longlegs, Heretic, and Sinners.

Whether it turns out well or not, at least the filmmakers are doing the smart thing and getting the O.G. band back together - pretty much the only thing that could interest most folk in another Scary Movie.
