20 Horror Movies That Are FINALLY Happening

1. The Howling Reboot

Joe Dante's The Howling is an undeniable cult classic, even if it led to a glut of generally low-rent sequels, followed by 2011's rancid direct-to-video reboot The Howling: Reborn.

In 2015, though, a remake of Dante's original was announced, and by 2020, It filmmaker Andy Muschietti had been signed to direct.

However, we heard virtually nothing about the project in the six years since Muschietti was hired until this past April when, at CinemaCon, StudioCanal re-announced their planned "reimagining" of Dante's film.

The studio didn't elaborate any further, and we don't even know if Muschietti is still involved at all, but considering StudioCanal announced the picture as part of their upcoming slate, they seem pretty damn serious about getting it made ASAP.

There's certainly an appetite for werewolf movies right now, especially those conceived with practical effects in mind, so hopefully whatever form the new Howling takes, it stays true to the series' hand-crafted origins.
