20 Horror Movies That Were JUST Announced

16. The Conjuring Prequel

Though the recent The Conjuring: Last Rites was sold as the "final" Conjuring movie, considering it almost grossed $500 million worldwide - making it easily the highest-grossing film in the series - it's no surprise that less than two months after its release, Warner Bros. swiftly announced another installment.

Now in fairness, Last Rites did mark the end of the Warren saga as far as Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are concerned, as this sixth film will actually be a prequel centered around a younger Ed and Lorraine Warren.

This certainly tracks given that Last Rites' prologue introduced younger versions of the pair, played by Orion Smith and Madison Lawlor, who acquitted themselves quite well in the roles.

But let's be honest - would it surprise anyone if Wilson and Farmiga came back for some bookending cameos?

The prequel will reportedly be the genre feature debut of filmmaker Rodrigue Huart, best known for his 2023 short film Transylvanie, and given Last Rites' enormous success, Warner Bros. will want to strike while the iron is white-hot, so fans likely won't have to wait long for it.
