20 Most WTF Moments From 2025 Horror Movies

Danny and Michael Philippou proved with their second feature, Bring Her Back, that their scintillating debut Talk to Me was no mere fluke. 

This is a refreshingly unapologetically nasty piece of work that doesn't ever care to spare your feelings or the integrity of your stomach. But its most hurl-worthy moment comes long before the climax, when Andy (Billy Barratt) attempts to make nice with Laura's (Sally Hawkins) fellow foster son Oliver (Jonah Wren Phillips) by offering him a piece of melon.

Oliver takes the melon slice, as well as the knife it's stuck on, all while Andy goes to grab him a plate. 

But while he's turned around, Oliver begins gnawing on the knife like it's his first meal in weeks, shredding the inside of his mouth to ribbons. Andy is of course horrified once he realises what's happening and attempts to stop Oliver from further injuring himself, but some serious damage has already been done.

There's nothing majorly complex about the execution of this scene, but the horrific sound design, tactile close-ups of Oliver's torn mouth, and two fine performances from Barratt and Phillips sell the terror quite perfectly.
