20 Recent Horror Movies That Made ONE Big Mistake

17. Being WAY Too Long - Iron Lung

There's certainly plenty to commend about Iron Lung, a film based on the indie horror video game which writer-director-star Markiplier brought to life with $3 million of his own money.

It's atmospheric, intense, and Markiplier gives a solid performance in the lead role, but he also made the same mistake that so many other on-the-rise indie filmmakers have before him - he refused to kill his darlings.

Iron Lung clocks in at a beefy 125 minutes, which for a single-location film featuring only one on-screen actor is one hell of an ask, and by far the most common criticism of the film has been its sluggish pacing and brutal length.

Honestly the film would be drastically improved by losing 30 or 40 minutes - in its released state it's an absolute slog to get through despite its many positives, and the blame can be almost solely laid at the feet of Markiplier himself, given that was also Iron Lung's editor.

He clearly has promise as a filmmaker, but for his next project he'd do well to pass the editing off to a professional who will cut the excess fat more ruthlessly.
