20 Recent Horror Movies That Made ONE Huge Mistake

4. Not Enough Hippo - Hungry

The title of this killer hippo movie, obviously nodding to the classic game Hungry Hungry Hippos, made it clear that it wasn't taking itself too seriously, and it's probably just as well.

All Hungry really needed to deliver, then, was some neat creature effects and a bunch of creatively grisly kills, but sadly, it largely ends up delivering neither.

For one, Hungry is bafflingly rated PG-13, placing a "family-friendly" ceiling on the aforementioned death scenes, which are largely lacking in the gore you'd reasonably expect.

But the bigger issue is that the hippo itself is barely in the film outside of its fleeting, sanitised maulings.

It's only in the last 20-or-so minutes of the film that we get much of a sustained look at the big guy, and though it actually looks pretty solid for a low-budget creature feature, many will have no doubt lost interest in the dull human characters and repetitive suspense sequences long before this point.
