20 Recent Horror Movies That Made ONE Huge Mistake
15. Lin Shaye's Limited Screen Time - Insidious: Out of the Further
When the sixth Insidious film was first announced, fans were excited to learn that the brilliant Lin Shaye would be once again reprising her role as fan favourite medium Elise Rainier, in what was said to be a "lead role."
Even though Elise died in the very first Insidious, she's appeared in some fashion in every single sequel, and though Shaye had just a tiny cameo in the previous film, Insidious: The Red Door, the casting announcement seemed to suggest that she'd have a meatier part this time.
So what a disappointment it was that Insidious: Out of the Further ultimately only gives us about five minutes of Elise, and though Shaye absolutely crushes those minutes as expected, it's just not what many fans were expecting.
It's all the more bizarre considering that Shaye was instrumental in getting Insidious 6 made, given that she wrote a letter to Sony's Tom Rothman when the film was at threat of being cancelled during a business regime change.
And above all else, with Shaye turning 83 years old this October, these films absolutely need to make the most of her while she's still here, because the franchise will be so much poorer without her.
