20 Upcoming Horror Movies NOBODY Asked For
13. Over Your Dead Body
It's easy to decry the existence of English-language remakes of hit international movies, and it's a whole other story when the original film didn't exactly set the world on fire.
2021's The Trip was a perfectly enjoyable horror-comedy starring Aksel Hennie and Noomi Rapace as a couple who, fed up with each other's existence, plot to kill one another during a cabin retreat.
It's a fun, brutal romp that received mostly positive reviews and performed well enough on Netflix, but there wasn't a whole lot here that suggested the value of a stateside rehash. Yet said rehash is now here in Over Your Dead Body, with Jason Segel and Samara Weaving starring as the opposed leads.
If the trailer is any indication, Over Your Dead Body seems to be hewing pretty close to the original, at which point you have to ask why anyone would pay to see it when The Trip can be streamed on Netflix right now.
We can only hope that with The Lonely Island's Jorma Taccone in the director's chair, he might bring some of his own twisted comedic sensibilities to the fore.
