15. Sebastian Stan - Frankenstein In Romania
Sebastian Stan has proven himself to be an extraordinarily adventurous performer in recent years, and he seems set to continue that trend with Frankenstein in Romania, a collaboration with singular Romanian filmmaker Radu Jude (Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn).
Stan, himself a Romanian-born actor, will star as both Victor Frankenstein and Frankenstein's monster, while the story will combine a loose adaptation of Mary Shelley's iconic text with the true story of a secret CIA prison which once existed in the country.
That certainly sounds off-kilter in a very on-brand way for Jude, and considering the impressive range Stan has recently demonstrated in roles such as Fresh, A Different Man, and The Apprentice, the prospect of him playing both the creature and his creator is filled with basically endless potential.
Frankenstein in Romania naturally won't be one of Stan's bigger hits, but it'll surely only further his arthouse cred while establishing a working relationship with one of the pre-eminent filmmakers from his native land.
