And the award for most unintentionally hilarious ending of the year must surely go to The Home - the new horror film from The Purge filmmaker James DeMonaco.

As part of his court-mandated community service, graffiti artist Max (Pete Davidson) is forced to work in a retirement home, and after a series of increasingly shady incidents, it's revealed that the home's staff and residents are actually part of a cult.

More to the point, they consume a special fluid they drain from the eyes of foster children such as Max in order to prolong their lives. What the hell, sure.

Max responds to this revelation by consuming a ton of the vitality-giving fluid himself, imbuing him with enough strength to embark on a blood-soaked rampage, killing any of the cult's members he encounters in the halls of the home.

Watching Pete Davidson stalk and slash his way through the bad guys with a pair of axes is less righteously badass than just extremely funny, aided by some wildly over-the-top gore.

On one hand this climactic bloodbath is pretty much the only memorable part of the movie, but it's also an absolute clown-show that the movie clearly wants you to think is actually cool.
