1 Overlooked Gem Song From Every Iron Maiden Album

14. Quest For Fire - Piece Of Mind

The follow up to Bruce Dickinson's stunning debut album for Iron Maiden has never been held in the same regard as 'The Number of the Beast', but it is still an incredibly strong outing on its own merit, and not just thanks to the introduction of Nicko McBrain on the drums.

The first five tracks are Maiden classics that no one could ever call overlooked, leaving the latter half of the album almost in their shadow. The track that most deserves to emerge from this obscurity over the others is 'Quest for Fire'.

Above all else, Iron Maiden are storytellers, and it's hard to imagine anyone else being capable of basing a song on a French film about cavemen in their search for heat and light.

Along with the narrative of the track, this encapsulates many of the quintessential components that make up a classic Maiden song, from the dualling guitars, a face-melting solo, and potentially the highest Bruce Dickinson's voice has ever gone.
