10 Albums That You Need To Listen To More Than Once

7. Garage Inc. - Metallica

Oh you think the B-sides collections are pointless?....just imagine how little people actually care about covers albums. As much as the lackluster leftovers from your original material may seem drab and lifeless, how the hell are you supposed to win people over by doing mock karaoke of some of your favorite songs in the process? When it comes to Metallica though, there's no better karaoke session in all of heavy metal.

Getting their start as a cover band in the early days, Garage Inc. was a great opportunity for the thrash metal legends to let loose after flexing their artistic muscles on albums like Load and Reload. Being informed by newer acts as much as the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, this entire album is all over the map, going from heavy metal mainstays like Black Sabbath to Nick Cave and even Bob Seger.

Even though the sheer thought of this thing sounds like a gimmick to enhance the Metallica brand, you'd be surprised how many of these songs hold up, with Mercyful Fate's medley being one of the greatest recordings that Metallica would ever create in the '90s, Black Album or otherwise. Aside from the contractual obligations and the Napster controversy that was just around the corner, Garage Inc. is still a nice healthy look at Metallica as one of the rawest garage bands that made it big.
