10 Albums We Waited An Eternity To Get
8. Interalia - At the Drive In
Wait: 16 Years
Most rock fans in the early '00s knew where they were when they first heard At the Drive In. Originally dubbed as a post hardcore band, this collective from California took every single heavy genre known to man and meshed them together into one beautifully disturbed piece of music. Though they had a decent start for an underground act, Relationship of Command made them one of the most intriguing bands of the era.
After they came off the tour for Relationship, fans were devastated to hear that the internal dynamics in the band led them to break up. This was a colossal blow considering their potential, but each member was making it work in their own bands like the Mars Volta and Antemasque later on. As time went on though, At the Drive In realized they had some unfinished business to attend to.
Coming out of the blue in 2017, Interalia marked the resurrection of At the Drive In, with some of their best songs to date. Instead of trying to combine their sound with the current trends of rock music, this sounds just like the follow up to Relationship of Command that we never got. It may have taken a miracle for things to fall into place, but At the Drive In were able to come through with one of the most pleasant surprises in hard rock history.
