10 Albums We Waited An Eternity To Get

6. Sonic Boom - KISS

Wait: 11 Years

KISS has had a bit of a reputation for being one of the most dysfunctional acts in the world of hard rock. Though Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley have developed a brotherhood over the years, the other members of the band have been somewhat of a revolving door. Given the band's phenomenal live shows, KISS almost didn't need a new record, but having to wait for Sonic Boom felt like a chore for fans.

After the original foursome got back together for the first time in years in the late '90s, their reunion record Psycho Circus felt more like a manufactured product rather than an actual artistic progression in their discography. Cutting Peter Criss and Ace Frehley from the band once again, KISS continued on with Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer in the traditional makeup on the next tours.

At this point, it looked like KISS had said all they wanted to say, but Sonic Boom emerged in 2009 after a few years as a live act. With almost every song composed by Stanley and Simmons, this felt like a return to the larger than life KISS personas that we knew and loved from back in the '70s. The amount of new faces in the band seemed to be getting out of hand, but with songs this good, it didn't even matter.
