10 Alternative Rock Music Videos You've Never Seen

7. Relax - Frankie Goes To Hollywood

If you were knocking about when this track was released, then you probably remember the controversy surrounding the suggestive lyrics. The BBC was so offended that a song could allude to homosexual intercourse, that not only did they ban the video but they refused to play the track on the radio.

Even MTV made the decision to ban the original, until something a bit less leathery was submitted. The one most people are familiar with depicts the group bathed in smoke and laser beams, as they do their best to look as '80s as possible.

But the original contained far more suggestive imagery - which was particularly offensive to a sensitive, less open '80s society. Lead singer, Holly Johnson, was shown in a nightclub with a bunch of leather-clad men enticing him into ever more compromising situations; all the while, some kind of hedonism overlord watched in amusement. It was far from subtle, with bananas being suggestively licked and every other person adorned in chains and revealing clothing. Compared to the videos Lil Nas X has released in recent years, it's all fairly tame, but for the '80s this was raunchy stuff.
